Happy Wende-sday This week's find is a poster for the 5th World Festival of Youth and Students for Peace and Friendship or Weltfestspiele der Jugend und Studenten. Held in 1955 in Warsaw, the capital of the then People's Republic of Poland, the World Federation of Democratic Youth organized this festival during the rise of the peaceful coexistence concept introduced by Nikita Khrushchev among the socialist bloc. More than 30,000 young people from 114 countries participated... in this edition of the gathering. The motto of the festival was "For Peace and Friendship Against the Aggressive Imperialist Pacts." The Weltfestspiele continues today, with the most recent convening hosted in 2017 in Sochi, Russia. #Wende_sday_Find / #WendeOnline

On view now in "Transformations: Living Room -> Flea Market -> Museum -> Art," Chelle Barbour's collages were created during the early stages of the pandemic in the U.S. While the coronavirus spread across Asia and Europe, she was inspired to create a three-panel visual narrative reflecting the potential transformation of daily life in America. The work examines nostalgia, transformation, and the idea of using household goods as metaphors for COVID-19 viruses, personal protective equipment, and life during the pandemic. Barbour is our next guest on Art Past Present, co-hosted by Farrah Karapetian and Joes Segal, returning to the #WendeOnline Thursday, January 21 at 12 p.m. PST via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us//3715971/WN_aU7H4n1pR2mkX2gJnGLZiA Explore the exhibition: https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=nt1CQhsq4X5
