Turn off the tap and save! Turning off the water while brushing teeth twice a day can save nearly 8 gallons of water per day, while shaving can save 10 gallons per shave. Assuming you brush twice daily and shave five times per week, you could save up about 5,500 gallons per year!

As communities faced the public health threat of the coronavirus pandemic, water and wastewater systems continued to do their job, 24/7, keeping the water flowing. Water is essential to the quality of life, safety, and economic competitiveness of our community and OMWD works hard every day to deliver it to your home and place of business. On this day of awareness, do your part in conserving this precious resource and supporting infrastructure projects. #ValueWater

#WhatIsThatThing, a purple fire hydrant? Close, but not for fires. This is a recycled water wharf head hydrant! The wharf head provides quick and easy access to OMWD’s recycled water distribution system. In California, pipes, covers, and wharf head hydrants that carry recycled water are colored purple and are completely separate from the drinking water system. To learn more about OMWD’s recycled water system, visit https://www.olivenhain.com/your-water-supplies/recycled/.
