WOL 56

The events that have transpired in the last weeks have been heavy. They have brought pain, confusion and division. What we see taking place in America with the brutal and inexcusable murder of Gorge Floyd and to the injustice that our African American brothers and sisters have continued to endure can be traced back to one source. That source is SIN. HATE is SIN! And HATE is something we as a people do so well. Each of us have been made in the image of our CREATOR! Yet we so e...asily destroy one another because of the lie of the adversary! The truth is, we as believers know the importance of recognizing and repenting over our individual sin, however what we don’t do so well is recognizing the corporate sin of our nation and repenting of that. Our Nations history is plagued with injustice. Injustice towards the Native Americans, African Americans and the Asian people to name a few. Some churches, through all this were complicit to theses injustices, at times even twisting scripture to justify their actions or inactions. James says ...to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. 4:17. Now here we are in 2020 and injustice is a part of life especially experienced by our African American brothers and sisters. We as believers in Jesus Christ must stand up! We must Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. Ephesians 5:11...Repentance is foundational to our faith and corporate repentance is badly needed. We see this through the Scriptures. We also see what happens when corporate repentance doesn’t take place. Many are quick to say that they aren’t racist, that they never oppressed anyone. Yet we have all benefited in one form or another from the sins of our ancestors and have also endured the repercussions from those same sins. Christians may we put ourselves in the shoes of those who may have had a different life experience. Me we truly follow the 2 greatest commandments, to love The Lord with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Let’s be thoughtful with our words.
