Reminder about the upcoming Trails Advisory Committee meeting and our need to weigh in on the proposed E-Bike regulations changes. The meeting is Wednesday, January 13th. Please send in your comments! Let’s keep our trails happy and safe! Please see flyer from City of San Marcos about the upcoming Trails Advisory Committee meeting on January 13, 2021. There is a proposal to change the Municipal Code regarding class 1 and 2 E-bikes on San Marcos trails. If this measure passes..., it will move through the process, ultimately to the City Council for approval. You have an opportunity to voice your opinion on this measure at every stage of this process, with the best time starting now. The City of San Marcos needs to hear from the equestrian community regarding this key safety issue. Our voices should be heard. Send your input to: Taylor Oshinski, Recreation Director, City of San Marcos Email: [email protected] Telephone: 760-744-9494, ext. 3704 Mailing address: Taylor Oshinski, Recreation Director, City of San Marcos 274 Pico Ave San Marcos, CA 92069 See more

The San Diego Humane Society Emergency Response Team is Recruiting! This group provides a wide-range of animal emergency response services to our community, very important for equine owners in need. They have demonstrated some of their procedures at past Horse Heritage Festivals. Please check out their flyer and their website. https://www.sdhumane.org//vol/emergency-response-team.html

The recent water quality test conducted for the Del Mar Horse Park indicates the park’s water issues originate outside the property. Fairgrounds officials have scheduled a discussion of the horse park for their meeting at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12. https://www.delmartimes.net//del-mar-horsepark-advocates-r

Let's all put our efforts together to save the Del Mar Horse Park!

Twin Oaks Valley Equestrian Association 10.12.2020

For anyone interested in helping save the Del Mar Horsepark - Please write letters and mail to the fairgrounds at the address below. Send an email copy of your... letter to the email address listed. Russ Penniman is going to make sure all of the letters are received and land in the correct hands. LETTERS MUST BE SENT THROUGH THE MAIL, not just emailed. There has been an offer from a show manager to lease the property and pay for the necessary water filtration improvements needed to keep Showpark open as a horse facility. The board is not actively considering this proposal. It’s important that we all send letters to the board to let them know how important Showpark is to the equestrian community. The next Del Mar Fairgrounds Zoom meeting is on January 12th. You can sign up to speak on this matter. Please log on and join in the meeting. http://www.delmarfairgrounds.com/index.php You can also sign the Change.org petition by clicking on this link: https://www.change.org/p/governor-gavin-newsom-save-del-mar Let’s all work together to try and save the Del Mar Horsepark as a show venue! Horseback Riding, it’s the best way to social distance while spreading Christmas Cheer! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Everyone. This was our only parade... with this team all year (since the Rose Parade) and we hit a home run tonight! So proud of the Temecula Cowgirl Color Guard Parade & Drill Team. Temecula cancelled the annual Santa’s electrical parade, but we were able to have a little mini horse parade instead. See more

Good Morning TOVEA Friends! Are you an Amazon shopper? Did you know that by shopping through the Amazon Smile program, your Amazon purchases can generate a donation to the Horse Heritage Conservancy? Simply by using your existing Amazon account (including Prime), and selecting Horse Heritage Conservancy of San Marcos as your charity of choice, every time you shop at Amazon they will make a donation to HHC. These funds then go to support important Walnut Grove Park and San Marcos trails improvements. It's SO Easy!

To all of our equestrian friends; Please do not swim your horses in the Santa Margarita River. The land is privately owned by The Wildlands Conservancy and th...ey have given us permission to cross the river only in designated crossings. Since Covid 19 the preserve has been inundated with visitors. TWC is trying very hard to keep up with all the problems that happens with all that many people. This has to do with water quality and protected habitat. Please respect these wonderful trails and our beautiful river. See more

"Cinch-it-Up!" Recently I had the opportunity to work with the California Horsetrader in the video production during the Horse Expo. "Lights - Camera - Action!"... In a full studio production, we did nearly 20 interviews with Clinicians, Vendors, and Industry Experts that can be found in the best of print and digital production, The California Horsetrader. Twin Oaks Valley Equestrian Association 04.08.2020

Great news, equestrians! Walnut Grove Park is now open as of today, June 1. The parking lot is open for vehicles, so come trailer your horses in and enjoy a nice trail ride. There are still guidelines, however. The restrooms are not open. Remember to keep 6 feet away from people who are not members of your household. Wear a face covering when you come within 6 feet of anyone not in your household. Park visitors are allowed to sit, lie down, and picnic if they practice social distancing. The pandemic may kill the San Diego Fairgrounds. If this happens it will kill Showpark also. Everyone, especially kids -- now is your chance to let your voice... be heard. There is a sample letter on the link. Tell your elected officials how much the fair, horse shows, etc. mean to you. Don't let your dream of showing in one of these venues be permanently closed. The Coalition for Recreational Trails (CRT) is calling on all trail organizations and trail enthusiasts to take action immediately to continue and to expand the Recreational Trails Program (RTP), by supporting the Recreational Trails Full Funding Act of 2020 (HR 5797) that will more than double funding for the RTP and make other important changes. Contact your own U.S. Representative and those Members with strong relations to your organization and ask them to cosponsor HR 5797, the Recreational Trails Full Funding Act. Ask your Senators to support the similar Senate bill, S. 1527. https://elcr.org/legislative-alert-recreational-trails-ful/
