No matter what, we will fight for mobility and housing justice to protect our planet and our communities. See our full statement and stay tuned for more analysis. https://bit.ly/3er2ao3
Our new executive director, Darnell Grisby, will be on with The Overhead Wire at 6:30 PT/9:30 ET to talk about what this election means for transportation. Tune in! http://youtube.com/TheOverheadWire
At the end of our voter guide you'll find links to all the Bay Area counties' election websites, where many of them will be posting local results after polls close at 8pm.
Homelessness hurts whole communities, not just the neighbors experiencing it. Voting #YESON21 will help keep families in their homes. #Prop21 doesn't affect you if you own your home. It doesn’t raise your taxes and it doesn’t limit your rights. If you’re not a corporate landlord, this initiative will not affect you at all. It does address abuses by Big Real Estate who drive up rental costs and price families out of their homes. See all our ballot recommendations:
Voting #YesonProp15 is one of the most important issues on the CA ballot in this election. Vote ASAP if you haven't already. Our communities, including transit agencies and housing/homelessness efforts across the state, have been short-changed for too long. Prop 15 will restore some balance and ensure corporations pay their fair share. See all our ballot recommendations: https://bit.ly/vote-TF-2020
Affordable and integrated fares are essential to ensuring those who most depend on public transit can get where they need to go. Thank you to Seamless Bay Area for all your work to make fares fairer.
The election is just a week away, and there's critical transportation, housing, and racial justice issues on the ballot. Check out our voter guide, and vote early if you can! https://bit.ly/31RCrQS #YesonProp15 #YesonProp16 #YesonProp21 #NoonProp22... #YesonRR in #SanFrancisco, #SantaClaraCounty, and #SanMateoCounty #YesonZ in #alameda #alamtg #NOonMeasureY in #SanMateo ... see more recs in the guide! "The transportation sector accounts for 40% of California’s total emissions that cause climate change, and yet California hasn’t made any big strides in this sector legislatively. So why are we behind? "Past efforts to move toward cleaner transportation have been stalled primarily by one legislator and one committee. Assembly Transportation Committee Chair Jim Frazier, a Democrat who represents portions of Solano and Contra Costa counties, has used his committee to stop the very progress that Newsom now has to mandate by executive order."
We will never solve the climate crisis if we keep building car-centered communities. Reducing emissions must go beyond #electrification, to reducing driving/#VMT. Thank you to Transportation for America for making the case for our work with your latest report!
As COVID-19 cases increase across California, Golden Gate Transit workers continue to transport frontline workers who rely on public transit. In light of the courage that transit workers have demonstrated during the past months, it’s appalling that Golden Gate Transit has now decided to lay off more than 100 of these courageous frontline workers. Phone bank with the Santa Clara County chapter of California League of Conservation Voters and other environmental orgs on Sunday, Oct 25th at 3PM for a phone bank supporting #YesonRR. Measure RR will save Caltrain from a shutdown and provide faster and more frequent trains; better connections to local transit; thousands of good-paying jobs; and cleaner, quieter trains to reduce noise and air pollution. The future of Caltrain depends on how many people we are able to reach and convince to support Measure RR. We are the margin of victory! RSVP here:
All Aboard at Home starts in an hour, and it's not too late to get your ticket... did you know there will be musical performances by TransForm staff?!
You don't want to miss today's event! We have a lot of surprises in store for you starting at 4pm, and a chance to meet our incoming executive director, @DarnellGrisby!
