To start 2021 TALB has created a TALB MEMBERS ONLY group as part of this page, to provide a safe and private place for TALB members to share ideas, opinions, success stories, and concerns about teaching in LBUSD. It will also be a safe place for teachers to ask other LBUSD teachers questions and get safe reliable answers specific to LBUSD. THIS is what we fought so hard for.

This #VeteransDay we recognize the contributions our service members have made and celebrate the diverse populations who have served. Native communities have... been a part of this country's defense even as they historically faced hostility and erasure. Native Americans had used their language as a resource for the U.S Army as early as WWI. Their unbreakable code was an irreplaceable asset to the effort against fascism in WWII. However, their efforts weren't recognized at the time. It would be 23 years after the war before the government declassified information surrounding their efforts and the Code Talkers were allowed to share their stories. That's why we're honoring their legacy this #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth. As Veterans, as Native Americans and heroes, their efforts changed the course of history.

New Community Learning Hub Program for distance learning and after-school activities for kindergarten to eighth grade Long Beach Unified School District student...s. The free hubs will provide a safe space with high-speed internet for students to complete distance learning assignments during the school day. Youth will also have the option to participate in safe and enriching after-school activities, including academic support, sports, fitness and more. The learning hubs will be available weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 16 through Dec. 18., at the following locations: Ernest McBride Park & Cal Rec Community Center (1550 MLK Jr. Ave.) (562)570-1605 Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.) (562)570-1640 Orizaba Park (1435 Orizaba Ave.) (562)570-1427 Veterans Park (101 E. 28th St.) (562)570-1695 Registration for the program is required and will be available online or in person beginning Thursday, Nov. 12. Online registration will be available on the PRM website starting at 3 p.m. In-person registration will be available at each of the camp locations, listed above, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 12 through Nov. 13.
