We're proud to announce that our automotive lighting design software, LucidShape CAA V5 Based, has been recognized as a Gold-Level Honoree in the 2020 Laser Focus World Innovators Awards! https://www.laserfocusworld.com//laser-focus-world-announc Learn more about our software: https://www.synopsys.com/optical-soluti//caa-v5-based.html
How does light travel? What are lenses? What can lasers be used for? Get the answers to these questions and more, introduce your kids to optics with our "Optics for Kids" learning center: https://www.synopsys.com//optics-for-ki/what-is-light.html
Congratulations to Cody Brelage from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, who was one of our winners of our student optical design competition. https://www.rose-hulman.edu//young-optical-engineering-stu
Cody Brelage from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was one of our winners of our student optical design competition. Read how this amazing student used Synopsys' LucidShape software to design exterior automotive lighting systems, including a stop/tail combination light and low- and high-beam headlights. How did he become interested in optics? He had an interest in theatrical lighting prior to college.
The University of Arizona Wyant College of Optical Sciences https://www.cnn.com//great-big-story-giant-magellan-telesc - The Giant Magellan Telescope, set to be the largest optical telescope in the world, needs gigantic 27-foot tall mirrors. Each of the seven mirrors that will comprise the telescope weigh in at 17-tons and will produce images with 10 times the resolution of the Hubble Space Telescope, giving scientists an unprecedented look into the fringes of our universe.
NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory - Education provides many educational activities. This one is related to the wildfires. We're experiencing the #Bobactfire here not too far from the Pasadena office. Make it a teachable moment! Here's an activity that uses remote sensing and satellite data to learn about remote detection of wildfires from space. For grade levels 4-8. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/teach/activity/pixels-on-fire/

Brandon Hellman from the College of Optical Sciences, University of Arizona, is the 2020 recipient of the Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship. The award was established to honor Michael John Kidger, a well-respected educator, design software developer and member of the optical science and engineering community. We interviewed Brandon to learn how he became interested in optics, his current research projects, and his future goals. Read our blog to learn more: http://ow.ly/Oq1a50BorZe
