A few of our favorite folks at our 50th Anniversary Celebration this past Memorial Day weekend. Thank you so much for all of you who came out to celebrate with us!
thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us this past weekend. know that we appreciate you and that this place wouldn’t have been the same without your tireless love, dedication and energy. know that the last 50 years has been an incredible challenge, joy and blessing. as we move into our next 50 years, we bring forth new visions and goals to grow so that we can include more love, creativity and support to our community. if you have photos of the celebration you'd like to share, please send or tag us so that we can have them and expand our collection for future generations to see. thank you for the wonderful memories!
Hey folks! Here are some tips on how to have a great time at the festival this weekend! (Please note that St Elmo Village is an alcohol-free space) 1. Wear comfortable clothes- we'll be out in the sun all day. Make sure you wear comfortable clothes you can sit, walk around and dance in!... 2. Get here early- It's Memorial Day Weekend, so there may be lots of people on the road. Give yourself plenty of time to travel here, find parking, and walk or shuttle over so you're not stressed to catch the amazing performances. (And don't forget to breeeathe as you weave through LA traffic!) 3. Wearing sunglasses, a hat, and/or sunblock is highly recommended since it'll be a warm, sunny day in LA. If you are planning to stay until the evening, we also suggest bringing a sweater because it can get chilly later in the day. 4. Drink plenty of water- Lots of sunshine and dancing will dehydrate you- don't forget to rest and drink water in between the festivities. 5. If you have special dietary concerns, bring snacks and/or food so you don't have to worry about leaving the event to eat and missing out on the fun! 6. Children, of course, are welcome. Please remember to keep an eye on them since there will be lots of people around and we don't want them to get hurt bumping into folks (or a cactus!). 7. Consider supporting your local artisans and vendors by purchasing unique, hand-crafted items at the Festival so you have something to remember this historical occasion. We'll also be selling special Village swag (memorabilia) like t-shirts, mugs, tote bags and more! Remember that we will all be here together to have a great time, celebrate life, and honor all those who have come together to create and sustain this special space over the past 50 years! We appreciate your love and energy and can't wait to celebrate with you! (**Flashback to Public Enemy at the Village)
#FBF Co-Founders Rozzell and Roderick Sykes with longtime friend, Jeff Bridges. For the past 50 years, St Elmo Village has been and is a Mecca for sharing and attaining, for teaching and learning, for children and elders, an eyesore turned into a blessing, a retreat for discovery of self and craft, a home to those artists (photographers, painters, writers, dancers, models, musicians, sculptors, et.al.), and a shelter forging and creating artistic spirits.
