Allow us to introduce ourselves! We are the Sierra Avalanche Dogs, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to support the maintenance and training of avalanche rescue dogs and their handlers at Sierra-at-Tahoe. As all pet owners know there are many annual costs that come with having a furry family member, and working dogs are no exception. Our avalanche dogs are not just family, they are co-workers essential to our avalanche rescue program and serving the safety o...f our community. They go through extensive training each year. Your donations can help with all of the costs of keeping our avalanche dogs well trained and healthy. Consider purchasing a t-shirt at West Bowl patrol, or you can donate directly to our PayPal account ([email protected]). Thank you for your support! @dogdogcattahoe @frommfamily @ruffwear

The dogs would like to remind everyone to stay safe as the blizzard continues to deliver. This storm is expected to produce feet of snow, high winds, cold temps, and whiteout conditions. Always ski with a buddy and keep them in sight at all times. If you are going off groomed runs, avoid tree wells and carry a whistle. Obey all closures and posted signage. Lastly, check the @sierraattahoe app for real time mountain conditions before heading out. We will see you on the other ...side of the blizzard! @dogdogcattahoe @ruffwear @frommfamily

Who doesn’t love dog kisses!? We know you do; here are some tips for interacting with our dogs and keeping them safe! 1. Please always ask before you approach or pet a dog, they may be training. 2. Give the dogs a minimum 15 feet of space when skiing or riding. Dogs can be seriously injured by ski and board edges.... 3. Never call a dog’s name when you see them on the hill. It is distracting to them and could create an unsafe situation. Thanks for all your support and keeping our dogs safe! : @jdpetersdotcom
