We were working on an RV purchase loan for a customer. I asked the loan company if they were very hard hit by the shutdown. They said March was their best month ever. Some people are buying a trailer to put at a friend or relative's property. Can you change the year of your RV with the DMV? Yes, if it was registered incorrectly in the past! This often happens when the dealership selling it new enters the wrong information with the first registration. All RV's have at least one tag somewhere that shows the date of manufacture (toward the front on driver's side exterior, in a cabinet inside, in the driver's door of a class C, on the wall behind the driver's seat in a class A, etc.). Anything made between January a...nd June of a year is that year model. Anything made between July and December is the next year model. This tag shows that the RV was manufactured in July of 2004, so it is a 2005 model. It was registered as a 2004. The buyers were having trouble getting a loan on a 2004, so we requested a letter from the manufacturer (Fleetwood in this case), clarifying that it is a 2005. We took the letter and the RV to the DMV field office and had a VIN inspection done, and the DMV agent corrected the year. See more
