Thank you friends and families of Lao Family. Our Big Day of Giving campaign raised over $3000 for the SMUD EnergyHELP program. We owe many thanks to those that generously donated in support of our goal. Your contributions will alleviate the fear inducing stress our families have been experiencing as a result of their financial burdens, and in exchange deliver hope. Your impact will be long felt and for that we thank you. If you weren't able to donate during BDOG we are still accepting donations via SMUD's webpage. Please check it out. https://www.smud.org/en/In-Our-Community/Help-your-Community

Electricity is the conduit to distant learning. Since the closure of the school districts in Sacramento our k-12 students have been faced with many challenges just to access education. There is no telling what their future will look like given the education disparities low-income families are currently dealing with. However, through your gift to Lao Family's Big Day of Giving campaign, families who rely of SMUD's EnergyHELP program will receive the financial assistance they desperately need at this time. Most notably, your contribution will ensure that the lights stay on for our young distant learners who otherwise would be without. Together, we can light the way to a brighter future. Good Morning Friends and Family. As we close another week we want to send a huge thank you to the community for continuing to comply with the stay at home order, for staying strong during this difficult time, and for entrusting Lao Family with assisting you. We've heard a lot from our community about their financial and economic hardships as a result of layoffs, reduced hours, lack of childcare resulting in loss work opportunities, and etc. because of COVID-19. We hear you ...and want you to know that we are working with our community partners to bring you much needed financial relief during this crucial time. One way we are doing this is through a joint partnership with SMUD's EnergyHELP program to help families that are struggling financially receive one-time assistance on their electric bill. As a community, every one of us can make a difference during this time. No matter how small or large your donation every dollar collected will go back to the EnergyHELP program. If you're unable to donate simply sharing our post is enough. Lao Family will continue to stand behind Sacramento and our community members because no doubt we will persevere beyond this moment and we will get through this, together. https://www.bigdayofgiving.org/LaoFamily

"On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner". (NCADV) Those numbers do not reflect our current situation as we've seen a rise in domestic violence incidences due to the mandatory stay at home order. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence and needs a safe place to stay please reach out to us. Lao Family can provide emergency safe shelter for victims of domestic violence. We're here to help you. Call us.916-470-9870
