There will be a "HOPS & SHOPS" downtown Redding on Saturday Feb. 22 from 2 to 6 pm! This is where (age) 21+ friends go visit the many Breweries downtown and also go shopping to the participating Stores! Buy your tickets, get a wrist band and enjoy drinking and shopping all Saturday afternoon!!! :) See me inside Memory Lane Antiques, corner of Pine & Placer!

I am going to post stories from my book, "DO NOT OPEN A B&B!!" on this site. I hope you will enjoy these stories. I have been in this business for 35 years and have funny, exciting, but mostly dark ugly crapheads that rent a B&B. Just because you have a castle, or are a great chef, does not make a B&B great... and... I have found that most women want to run their own B&B, how fun!? right? NOT! There are now millions of airbnb's in the world, and their life-long dream usually lasts 2 years, maybe 5. My stories here will only be a paragraph or two for entertainment, but they will be the truth! Believe it or not!!! I wish I had pictures

I am from Iowa, when I was 5 yrs old the area code was (712) for every phone number. We wore clothes our parents bought us . You thought your parents were rich... if you went to JC Penney's. Shopping at K-Mart for a blue light special while eating the popcorn and drinking a Cherry Icee, and maybe stopping in the KMart cafeteria for a meal and an apple dumpling. Eating ice cream was the treat on a hot day. Riding anywhere in the car with no seat belts on, riding in the back of a pick up truck and drive in movies, the popcorn in a brown paper bag with so much butter on it you could see it seeping through. 25 cents got you 25 pieces of penny candy You took your school clothes off as soon as you got home and put on your play clothes. We had to do our homework before being allowed outside to play. We ate dinner at the table as a family. We walked to school. There was no taking or picking you up in the car lol! TVs didn’t have remotes, we had to actually get up to change the channel. We played Mother May I, Hopscotch, Cowboys and Indians, Cops and Robbers, 1,2,3 Not It, Red Light Green Light, Red Rover, Hide & Seek, Truth or Dare, Tag, Baseball, 4 square, Kick Ball, Dodge Ball, rode bikes, spent the night outside in sleeping bags on the front lawn! Girls could spend hours playing Barbies or house. Boys played football in the yard. Staying in the house was a punishment, the only thing we knew about "bored", "You better find something to do before I find it for you!" We ate what mom/dad made for dinner or we ate nothing at all. There was no bottled water; we drank from the tap or the water hose (hot). We watched cartoons on Saturday mornings, and rode our bikes for hours without a cell phone. We weren't AFRAID OF ANYTHING. If someone had a fight, that's what it was and we were friends again a week later, if not SOONER. We played til dark, sunset was our curfew. School was mandatory and teachers and police were people who you could TRUST and respect. We watched our MOUTHS around our elders because ALL of our Aunties, Uncles, Grandpas and Grandmas were also our PARENTS (they COULD & WOULD WHOOP Y'ALL!,) and you didn't want them telling your PARENTS if you misbehaved. These were the good ole days. Kids today will never know how it feels to be a real kid. I loved my childhood...!!! Kids these days will never understand how we grew up!!! ***Good Times*** Copy & Paste if this is how you grew up! See more
