Over the past two months our social workers have provided over 500 wellness checks to seniors and residents who are living with disabilities. 97% of residents reported that these calls helped them feel connected to resources during this uncertain time and 86% said it helped with feelings of isolation. CITY HONORS PEOPLE’S SELF-HELP HOUSING At its Oct. 26 meeting, the Carpinteria City Council approved a proclamation to honor Peoples' Self-Help Housing on its 5...0th anniversary. Since its formation in 1970, People’s has developed more than 1,900 affordable rental units to serve people in Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties. The nonprofit also provides services such as financial management opportunities for adults and education programs for children. Within the City of Carpinteria, People’s serves working families, veterans, seniors, agricultural workers and special needs groups who live in 159 units at Dahlia Court I and II, Casa de las Flores, and Chapel Court.
