Happy New Year! !
Merry Christmas!
As we enter the holiday season, we wanted to share some of the joyful preschool moments that brighten our days and bring smiles to our faces.
Happy Hanukkah!
The teachers at PKS are amazing. Every day they bring their unique passions, interests, and personalities into the classroom to enrich the learning environment for our students. Here is one preschool teacher's story.
Many people see math as nothing more than rules and definitive answers, but this does math a great disservice. Real math is a quest driven by curiosity and wonder and we need to shift our perspectives to help our students shift theirs. PKS has grown so much since 2008 when we opened our doors as a two-room preschool in the Presidio. Elaine Tseng, our Preschool Curriculum Coordinator, reflects on her ten year journey with PKS, not only in terms of what has changed but, more importantly, what has remained the same.

One of our Habits of Character at PKS is to be caring - we consider others and show kindness, compassion, and empathy for those around us in our actions and words. As we think about ways for our children to be successful, let kindness be one such way.
As Chris Livaccari, our Head of School, shared at the beginning of the school year, our key themes for the 2019-2020 school year are connectedness, continuous improvement, and sustained inquiry. Together, we are working to create a culture of learning that engages and challenges not just our students, but also our educators.
One of the greatest joys and challenges of teaching in a progressive school is the ever evolving curriculum. Based on the interests of our students, each year we rethink and reshape the projects to provide meaningful, authentic learning experiences.
