The thing about setting boundaries is ...it's NOT easy. Why? The long and short of it is, usually, you are needing to set the boundary in the first place because the person/group of people you are dealing with don't understand the value of setting boundaries in the first place. My tip for you; is; don't waste the time trying to justify your boundary, just lovingly and firmly set it anyway. You've got this! If you want to hear more on this...check out this week’s LWWK Podcast episode

This makes me so sad...but yes, I am seeing this and hearing this from the teens I work with. I don't know what the answer is, but we have to do better for them - between losing their homes in fires, being evacuated every year, and losing access to in-person learning and socialization it's been rough. Children are resilient, and so are teens - they will get through this but we need to offer them support, guidance, mental and emotional health help, and a whole lot of grace.

In between session fuel...caffeine and a view of my cuties. Truth: I rarely make enough space in my schedule for a proper break. Why? Because I love my work and I love my kids...which means I try to maximize my time in both spaces. I don’t always nail it; I forget things, sometimes run late, often have coffee or some other unknown substance on my shirt, and can be really inpatient...that’s just me. I want to embrace the fact that I am a practicing human, that life is both me...ssy and beautiful, simple and hard so that I can help other people embrace the both and, of life. When we embrace the duality of being human, we have the opportunity to both own and author our own life’s story. . . . . . #petauma #therapy #moderntherapist #cognitivebehavioraltherapy #acceptanceandcommitmenttherapy #ownyourlife #imperfectlyperfect #motherhood #honestmotherhood #womensupportingwomen #mompreneur #mentalhealthcoach #therapistsofinstagram #writersofinstagram #beyourself #wholeheartedliving #lowkey #hotmessmama See more

In my practice, and in the world, there are a lot of people struggling with making choices right now around how re-engage in activties that pre-coivd that were considered "normal," like going into the office, or putting their children in childcare. I get it...these are HARD choices to make and it can feel like there is no clear right answer. Enter, our not so good friend "uncertainty." Jennifer Shannon, Anxiety treatment expert and book author created this protocol for her clients to use around making tough desicions. When your going to therapy seems to ruffle the feathers of the ones you love...it’s likely because they’re afraid of you changing the homeostasis of what has already been. Even when our loved ones have the best intention for us, some times our changing and evolving can make them uncomfortable...welp, I’m here to tell you to do the work anyway. Your growth and evolution is critical to you AND the health of the whole family unit...they’ll catch up. . . . .... . #honestly #therapythoughts #personalgrowthanddevelopment #changeisgood #changeishard #growthmindset #growingpains #youareworthit #youareenough #anxiety #therapyforwomen #healthyrelationships #marriage #motherhood #therapysession #therapistsofinstagram #depressionhelp #mentalhealthblogger #healingjourney #mentalhealthpodcast See more

Welcome to season three of the Living Well with Kaitlin Podcast! I believe that the work of therapy can go far beyond the room, and we should be having conversations about mental and emotional health that are candid, honest and helpful...so this podcast is my way of doing just that! . In this week’s episode, I share a conversation that I had with fellow therapist and self care expert, Lauren Simicich, LCSW. As two women in different phases of our journey (but both with very... full and busy lives) we discuss the barriers to our own self-care and the importance of continuing to practice it. Lauren challenges pop-culture’s version of self-care and shares REAL and practical ways we can pursue the art of taking care of and loving ourselves. You can follow Lauren on Instagram @thetherapyinfluencer and download her free self-care guide. . So tune in, subscribe to the podcast (link in bio), and leave a review! . Tomorrow I’ll be releasing all the details around how you can join the Living Well with virtual mental health learning and support community. We’re all in this together So honored to be on this journey with you. . . . . . #livingwell #podcastersofinstagram #mentalhealthmatters #emotionalhealth #wellnessjourney #thetapistsofinstagram #virtuallearning #virtualtherapy #personalgrowth #anxiety #anxietyhelp #anxietysupport #ocdsupport #ocd #motherhood #motherhoodrising #mentalloadofmotherhood #moderntherapist #cognitivebehavioraltherapy See more
