For we American's, today is Memorial Day, a day when we honor soldiers who have fallen in battle, and the veterans who have passed. This is a poem as told by the riderless horse: The Riderless Horse Oh, where is my rider today?... I miss his weight upon my back. Reversed and empty, his boots are there, But the reins have fallen slack. Where is my rider today. Where is my rider today? Which way am I to go? The hands that firmly led my course, Signal naught, neither to nor fro. Where is my rider today? The Master taught me my jaunty step, And to hold my head up high. He kept my wayward thoughts in line, And kept my courage nigh. Where is my rider today? Surely the journey’s not ended, We’d merely selected a road. How can I go undirected, When my back yearns for the load? Where is my rider today? The procession I’m in wends slowly along, And I with my saddle bare, Trot crooked and jerky, and out of line, For want of a rider there. Where is my Master today? A caisson precedes me with escort afoot, And bannered casket astride. The fear that has plagued now settles as fact. It’s my Master that rides inside. Oh there is my Master today. I’m strong and stately and young of life, And there’s many a road ahead. But where can I go with no one to lead me? Now that my Master is dead. His life has been taken away. Tomorrow I’ll stand for another to ride, With boots again stirruped forward. His hands will signal the course to travel. And my pace will again be onward. But I miss my rider today.

If they are trying to put homes and businesses near Napa, how long do you think it will be before the complaints shut down the facility?

‘Let your child have a bad ride. I know you want to protect them from the hardships of this world. I know you want to give them success and good experiences. I ...know you don't want to see them get hurt. To see them fall. To see them fail. But, hear me out, let your child have a bad ride. Let them cry the tears of frustration. Let them shake the sand out from the inside of their riding pants. Let them face the fear building inside of them. Let them step back on again. Yes, let your child have a bad ride. Let them hate the horse that challenges them. Let them learn what fight and passion and ambition mean. Let them realize that when they refuse to quit the horse will take the time to listen. Grant them the joy of realizing that they are connecting with another living being. Grant them the joy of realizing that they, although they are small, can be powerful. Grant them the joy of seeing their hard work pay off, through the days of tears can come a love unspeakable. Yes, let your child have a bad ride. Afterall, life will grant us plenty of them.’ By Sarah Crouse

Now that the winter season has begun, it brings with it continued hazards in the Woodward Fire burn zone, as well as a continued closure of all trails in the bu...rn zone and adjacent to it. Trees that are partially burned are unstable and continue to fall in the slightest wind and often without any warning. There are bridges, retaining walls, culverts & other infrastructure that are damaged or destroyed, and crews will work on rebuilding and repairing these as it is safe to do so throughout the winter months. Rains will bring a potential for unstable soils and landslides. Therefore, the trail system adjacent to and in the burn area from the south of Limantour Rd to north of Stewart trail remain closed until at least the spring, when conditions will be assessed for safety. We do get heartening reports from our NPS crews working out there about new growth from recent rains, and they’ve been sharing their photos of what it looks like. It’s hard to see beloved vistas and trails so damaged, but you’ll also see that the land is already showing how resilient it is. We can’t stress enough how important it is for visitors to respect all trail closures. Crews are working with heavy machinery and anybody that wanders into such a scene puts themselves, our crews, and responding rangers at risk. Our NPS Law Enforcement rangers are patrolling & issuing citations for those found in closed areas. The closed area includes but isn’t limited to the Coast/Laguna/Sky trail system/Bear Valley trail system/Woodward Valley trail. Please visit go.nps.gov/pore/closures to see a map of the closed areas and for updates. NPS photos/R. Hickey #PointReyesNPS #FindYourPark #EncuentraTuParque #WoodwardFire

If you give your child a pony, they will want to ride. You’ll buy them the best pony you can find, followed by a helmet, boots and all the other things pony. Y...ou look for a local barn to ride at where you start to socialize with the equestrian communityAnd then life as you know it, will end. Before you know it, they want to show so you find a circuit ..There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible. Every spare minute of your time will be spent hauling campers, horse trailers and horses and enduring a crazy addiction to practice for the next show. Your house may be a mess, and your car will be dirty. All because you gave your child a pony. Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a fold up chair. And their weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, learning new skills and having fun and getting dirty!!!! You will be there the day he or she takes the first few steps of canter, the first taste of a jump, first ribbon, first championship. And they will make you SO proud. Other parents will congratulate you, but you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you on the pony, it’s your child. It's everything that they did, they achieved. And right before your eyes, your little boy/girl will be transformed from the baby who bounced around on their rocking horse into an exceptional young horse enthusiast on the hunt for the next pony finals or maybe even the Olympics! When you give your child a pony , you give them more than just something to ride. You give them a sport, a talent, hope and dreams. Friends, a new family, a place to learn about life, room to grow as a person where they can push their limits, and bravery, and courage, and memories. And they will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave your child a pony. Because you gave your child a pony, you too will develop new/lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the sport. You will have a equestrian family because you gave your child a pony. Then one day, many years from todaythey will be in their room and a certain trophy will catch their eye. And they will pick it up and realize instantly that when you gave your child a pony, you also gave them a childhood that they would never forget, at this point, you realize that everything you gave up along the way and sacrificed was totally worth it.. All because you gave your child a pony Copied from a friend. Powerful See more

We've had many requests, so here is a downloadable version of the Horse Identification Form to print and use! Keep a copy at your horse's stall, and a copy with... your records as well. Place in a ziplock bag or use sticky laminate sheets to make it become permanent and pin or tack on stall doors, walls, wood etc. If your horse is evacuated the information goes with them for safety!!! This is what we use at HYH when transporting to shelters!!! Be prepared!! #HYHStrong #hyhfamily #rescue #saveonemore #horses #equine #cowboys #cowgirlstrong #Evacuation #holdyourhorses #holdyourhorsesevac https://drive.google.com//1fNY40STjt9LWoCU5LANw6hCuE/view
