Last week on a site visit with my Deputy Chief of Staff (!) Andrea getting to work more in person with my team makes me so excited for the steps ahead. More to sharesoon!
As we enter Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, I’m thrilled to share a project I was able to participate in. Director @talktonatasha and Producer @luciatran’s short film In The Visible reclaims the narrative of the AAPI community, celebrates our breadth of experiences, and dismantles stereotypes through storytelling in the words of AAPI community members themselves. Give it a watch at www.inthevisible.co #InTheVisible @inthevisibleco
A new executive order from the Biden Administration gives us an opportunity to safely house thousands of Angelenos through Project Roomkey, and take steps towards making housing in Los Angeles a human right. See the full thread at bit.ly/roomkey_CD4.
Posted @withregram @cd4losangeles Where is LA at with vaccine distribution? Full thread in our stories! #COVID19 #vaccine #LosAngeles
How a motion is passed at LA City Hall (more LA Schoolhouse Rock-esque on the way maybe one day with an animated song to accompany!)
I'm running to bring a progressive voice to the most powerful City Council in America. We're fighting for a better LA. Housing for all. Clean air.... A transformed approach to public safety. A city where everyone is welcome. I hope you'll join us. http://nithyaforthecity.com/signup
Introducing Councilmember-elect Nithya Raman
This campaign was never about any one person. We’ve built a community together and I’m so proud, honored, and inspired to have been a part of it with all of you.
While so much of politics these days is characterized by polarization and gridlock, I believe cities stand out as places where real, substantive change remains possible. More than every other level of government, cities have enormous control and impact over our daily lives. We can build the affordable housing we need.... We can reach 100% renewable energy and become water independent. We can provide community access centers for homeless services in every neighborhood. We can become a true sanctuary city. We can make our city walkable, bikeable, and public transit-rich. We can bridge the digital divide for Internet access. We can save and nurture our small businesses. We can make our city truly safe for everyone. We can get special interest money out of city government. More than anything, we can carry the love of this movement we’ve built together into City Hall, and help shepherd our shared vision of LA into reality. But know this: Win or lose, Angelenos have woken up to the power of what’s possible. And they’re not going to easily forget it. This movement is broad, diverse, and so much bigger than any one person. We can’t wait to see where we go from here.
Very hard to believe, but our campaign journey ends today. My heart is so full seeing pictures of our volunteers out at vote centers (esp. this story from @lisarinna’s IG!) Say hi if you see them!! And of course: *please vote and tell your friends*! Vote centers open until 8pm.
With a day until the election, I want to celebrate something our campaign did that makes me so proud: we put out the most detailed (and readable!) policies I've ever seen in a city race. Housing & Homelessness Environment & Transportation Immigration... How to Make City Hall Work for us Aging & Health Rent Forgiveness Public Broadband Transforming Public Safety Creating Affordable Housing Supporting Small Business Our policymaking reflected how we think a city should be run: by bringing impacted community members, experts, organizers, and any interested residents into the room. We built our platforms using principles of co-governance, and that’s exactly how we’d run a City Council office. #NithyafortheCity #TeamNithya
Just some of our *incredible* volunteers out this weekend talking to residents about the issues they care about most! Voting centers are open today until 7pm and tomorrow 7am-8pm. Two more days!! Let’s go LA #TeamNithya
We celebrated Halloween a little differently this year because of COVID but it was still really fun, especially because we were able to celebrate with the grandparents. Here are 5 years of the twins in their costumes... and a picture of me on Halloween 2015 just two days before they were born!
The only LA City Council candidate endorsed by Senator Bernie Sanders! Skip the lines and vote early this weekend!! #TeamNithya #BernieSanders
Truly inspired by Kendrick Sampson’s work and leadership in the fight for justice in LA, and I am so honored to have his endorsement for this campaign. Thank you @kendrick38
Skip the lines on election day and vote this weekend!! There are over 50 voting centers in or within a few blocks of our district. For a full map click here: nithyaforthecity.com/vote
Your girl voted! 5 days left and counting! What’s your voting plan? #NithyafortheCity

There's been a lot of discussion this week about encampment sweeps in LA. But criminalization has been our city's primary response to homelessness for years. What if we took a cheaper, more compassionate, *and* more effective approach? We talked it out with @tweetrajouhari!
So grateful to have the endorsement of Chesa Boudin, District Attorney in San Francisco, who is bringing real progressive change to the city’s criminal legal system. Thank you, @chesaboudin !!
