"Today was a historic day for Naval Aviation. We stepped into the future of training the next generation of rotary wing and tilt-rotor aviators #AirBoss, Vic...e Adm. Kenneth Whitesell, accepted the TH-73A from Leonardo Company on behalf of the U.S. Navy . The TH-73A will serve as the centerpiece of our new Advanced Helicopter Training System at Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA) . It will replace the TH-57B/C Sea Ranger, which has served our undergraduate naval aviators for more than 30 years. Thank you to our longtime partners at Leonardo Company who manufactured and assembled this remarkable aircraft; to the logistics and maintenance experts at Vertex Aerospace who provided top-notch support throughout the development of the Advanced Helicopter Training System; to Flight Safety Services Corporation for providing aircrew training at NAS Whiting Field ; and to River Tech for providing invaluable support to modernizing our training curriculum, giving our student aviators the skills they will need to thrive and win in the Fleet. #FlyNavy #FlyUSMC #FlyUSCG #WeAreNavalAviation Naval Aviation Enterprise

The blood, sweat, and tears that go into making our impossible, possible, is largely due to HSC-2's hard working Maintenance Crews. Day and night, rain or shine, the Fleet Angels couldn't fly without all their hard work. Thank you!!

On Monday, November 2nd, Aviation Technical Training Center (ATTC) held a moment of silence for fallen aviator and North Carolina native LTJG Morgan Garrett. Du...ring a brief speech, the Commanding Officer remembered LTJG Garrett's achievements and vibrant personality. A bright light in any room, she always reminded others to "seek out the next thing you can be doing to improve yourself, the people around you, and your unit as a whole because there is nothing good growing in stagnant water." We will never forget you. Rest In Peace, shipmate.

Watch AMT2 Thomsen get hoisted in our Rescue Swimmer Training Facility as part of wet drills a group of our instructors participated in. ATTC provides under wat...er egress training for aircrews from across the fleet and is in the process of revising the training to include the SEAS (Survival Egress Air) bottle to provide more realistic scenarios when members practice egressing from a simulated submerged helicopter. In this portion of the training, the volunteers completed a 75 yard swim and two minute water tread in flight gear prior to entering a life raft where basic survival skills were reviewed. After that each member was hoisted in the rescue basket. See more

Lighthouses have a major function for vessels on the water and in the air and some are maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. The team from U.S. Coast Guard Aids t...o Navigation Team Two Rivers responded to a discrepant AID at Pilot Island. Thanks to the assistance of the flight crew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City, the crews were able to fix the discrepancy. The Pilot Island lighthouse then referred to as Port des Morts Light was built in 1858. The light was a ten-sided cast iron lantern that contained a fourth order Fresnel lens. In 1962 the sound signal was removed and the light became fully automated. The most recent transition for the light was in 2018 where the ANT converted the light from a SABIK 350 to a LED sealight. #Lighthouse #USCG #pilotislandlighthouse
