Doing Back Squat on the belt squat can help you overload weight on your hips with less stress on the spine. When doing regular Back Squat, your hips and spine are experiencing the full amount of weight. With 143lbs on the bar, and a belt squat of 100lbs, the spine feels 143lbs and the hips feel 243lb. This variation of Back Squat gives you a chance to really load weight on the hips without the spine having to experience the full load. Working in various load ranges of a lift with bands, chains, and with different barbells, will help strengthen the overall performance. Try it with Zercher Squat and Front Squat as other strength variations.

Marching Walkouts- Increase stability in your spine, hips, knees, ankle, and feet. Just as Marches are performed on the Belt Squat, this exercise adds spinal compression. Train with a belt for overload and without a belt to challenge stability. Lifters will overload 50+ pounds more than their max squat to increase stability in walking out of the rack. This exercise is best performed after your programed working sets. Program these at least twice every 3 month training cycle.

Doing block pulls on the belt squat can help you overload weight on your hips with less stress on the spine. When doing regular block pulls your hips and spine are experiencing the full amount of weight. With 143lbs on the bar, and a belt squat of 100lbs, the spine feels 143lbs and the hips feel 243lb. This variation of block pulls gives you a chance to really load weight on the hips without the spine having to experience the full load. Working in ranges of a lift such as deficits, block pulls above and below the knee, help strengthen multiple phases to aid in the overall performance.

What separates our gym from other gyms? There are many things but the biggest thing is these three people. We have a small staff here at NASPOWER the owners do all the work inside and out. Tim is ALWAYS fixing things, helping members, handling finances, even building equipment and so much more!! Lord is always working long hours, helping members, cleaning toilets, vacuuming the gym, cleaning everything because the little things matter so much to him. Mandy and her daughters a...re always making sure we are fully stocked on toiletry items and food and drink items. She works the desk and does all the organizing. These are the people that run our gym. I (Peyton) have been SO blessed to be a part of helping at the gym this past year. Lord, Tim and Mandy are the people that keep this gym up and running along with our amazing helpful and caring members. We are more than a gym, we are a family. We have owners who are constantly around and present. They CARE. this is their family. Lord always says I will always continue to work hard, the little things matter to me, and I will never be too good for anything. I’ll clean toilets, I’ll take care of this place because it’s our home, the owners and the members. These people are SO humble and would never talk about these things themselves. That’s what I’m here for See more

Wednesday, July 1st starting at 6pm. last week I challenged @thechef_saint to a BBQ Cook-off. We have both chosen to barbecue chicken, I will be offering a side of ceviche and potato salad, Santos will offer a second meet of ribs and sides TBD. We will perform a live BBQ in front of the gym and serve our samples. YOU ARE THE JUDGE: You purchase a ticket for $1.00 to be able to taste our samples and you will drop the ticket into a bucket you choose has the best food. You can ...buy as many tickets as you'd like to boost the votes for the winner of your choice. All of the revenue from the ticket sales will be donated to The Special Olympics in Bakersfield. We decided to take ticket sales starting today. Thank you for all your support! @elliottlord President of NASPOWER Army Cook 1994-2000

With great anticipation we are preparing the gym so that when the time comes to reopen we are able to continue practicing the CDC guidelines of social distancing. We have moved the cardio machines 6 feet apart for that reason. We have a room occupancy of 225 people. During our peak hours we have around 50 members in the gym. This is less than 25 percent of maximum occupancy. Allowing plenty of room for the people to comply with the social distancing guidelines Our gym being 2...4 hours offers the benefit for our members to come in whenever they would like. This includes coming in during times the gym has even less than 25 percent of our occupancy. This allows even more distance to be kept between people. We also have sanitizer in spray bottles for the equipment to be cleansed and wiped down after use, in addition to staff cleaning the equipment frequently. When we reopen we want to ensure everyone is still taking precautions for their health and the health of others. Studies show that the virus is unstable around 80 degrees. During the summer time our gym remains around 86 degrees. We have coolers in the gym that are constantly pulling in fresh air. Unlike most commercial gyms who keep their facility around 70 degrees and use air conditioning systems that recirculate the air in the facility. In addition, we will also be removing the toys from our kids room to minimize the transfer of germs from one kid to another when they are in the facility. We cannot wait to open again and provide our services to our members that have been so supportive and encouraging during these hard times. We would like to wish you all the best in strength and health and we look forward to seeing you soon. Thank you, - Lord, Tim, Mandy, and Peyton

I spoke with Johnathan on Tuesday about the response to local doctors presentation on Covid19 and how it is affecting local businesses such as myself. They have real time data on the behavior of this virus as compared to theoretical models, the doctors explained how it's time to get back to work. They explained how the virus works, how our bodies fight against it, how most of the healthy population is asymptomatic, how the susceptible should stay quarantined, and how the majo...rity will be susceptible to other illnesses due to weakened immune systems once the order is lifted and exposed to environmental germs and bacterias. The most infectious places to be is the essential places such as grocery stores and medical facilities. The doctors explained how the virus lives on surfaces and items such as a bag of chips which is transfered to our hands and now in our homes. It was explained how gloves are useless because the items from infectious places are brought into the home. Masks only knockdown the spit-spray and doesnt protect against the actual virus that is living on the mask. For the majority of the community who are asymptomatic and healthy, it is advised to get back to work. Many are exposed to thousands of people and their immune system is stronger than most due to antigens they have built from the environment such as those who work at gyms, Home Depot, Sams, Albertsons, medical facilities, etc. I don't qualify for the government relief funds, unemployment, and government assistance. I've lost income potential with events, educational sales, gym being forced to close, and have to pay the thousands of dollars for rent and utilities during the time we are closed. I'm grateful of the many donations of food and money, and many of the members requesting to continue to pay their memberships to help ensure we survive this moment, we are in a great place to open back up hopefully in the next few weeks. Many cant pay their bills, buy essentials, lost jobs, and losing their business. I hope we can get back to work asap! Tim, myself, and our families are very blessed to have the support from our members. I wish you all Strength in Health! Thank you, Lord Elliott
