Moraga Orinda Fire Fighters are preparing for the wildland season, which is anticipated to be long and dry this year. The water tender (WT44) pictured here can provide a static water source. 2500 Gallons of water to be exact, that is 5x a normal fire engine tank of water. It is used in locations where there aren’t hydrants available. #wildfireseason #preparation #train #moragaorindafirefighters

We Remember On May 21, 2021 at 2100 hours Moraga Orinda Fire Fighters participated in a county wide event. This event was held in recognition of Mental Health Awareness month. One minute of silence was taken to express support for all the public safety families that have suffered a loss due to suicide. Moraga Orinda Fire Fighters have taken proactive steps at helping one another with our Peer Support program to help deal with the stress of this challenging profession.

...Red Flag Warning North and East Bay hills as well as East Bay interior valleys 11 pm Friday through 6 am Monday for offshore winds and lowering humidity... ....A moderate early season offshore wind event will develop this weekend. This will occur as fuels are near record dry levels after a very dry winter. The initial burst of dry offshore winds will reach the Napa county hills around 11 pm Friday night and then spread across the East Bay overnight into early Saturday. These winds will usher in much drier air along with wind gusts in excess of 50 mph above 2000 feet. On Saturday breezy north winds will continue as temperatures warm well into the 80s with humidity values lowering into the teens and single digits. This pattern will help to rapidly dry out the fine fuels through the weekend. See more

Cold and wet weather ahead. Please take the time to plan ahead if you need to commute or travel. Slow down, turn your headlights ON, and pullover on a safe location if to hazardous to continue. At home have fresh batteries in a flashlight, extra blankets/clothing to stay warm, and food and water in case your power goes out.

The @moragaorindafirefighters would like to thank the communities of #moraga and #orinda for all of their toy donations. A reminder that December 18 is the last day to donate to @toys_for_tots_organization.

Members of the #Campo football team helped donate over 200 toys to the #MOFD #ToysforTots program. They have not been able to compete on the field yet, but are finding creative ways to still rack up achievements off of the field this Holiday Season. There is still time to drop toys off in the #ToysforTots barrel in front of any #MOFD fire station. The last day for collection will be December 18th. #Moraga #Orinda #Firefighters

#MoragaOrindaFirefighters want to thank Mrs. Ingery and her transitional kindergarten class from Sleepy Hollow Elementary. Last week we had the opportunity to give a virtual station tour. Although Covid has restricted us from meeting in person, we were still able to enjoy a moment with our next generation. With permission from parents we are able to show you what was on both sides of the camera. We look forward to meeting you all in person in the very near future!
