For you salsaras and salsaros and anyone interested here's a great series on how latin (latin jazz, Mambo, salsa, etc.) music started in the U.S. Part 1 of the salsa evolution. https://www.pbs.org/video/latin-music-usa-hour-1-bridges/
How's everyone doing? Stay safe! Stay tough! Lets stay inspired!
Throwback to when we used to dance in streets! Stay positive, friends, we'll get through this and there will be tons of dancing on the other side. Meanwhile keep listing to dj sets and dancing at home. Miss you all!!!! -Mambo Domingo
Here's one without technical issues.
Here's an unposted clip that I just found. Enjoy! Stay safe and sane! We can't wait to get back to throwing the best socials in the bay area.
Keep dancing! Thanks to DJ Hong and the #CoBeatParty for keeping the party going 24/7. You've been such an inspiration with the music! As dancers, we can still connect even apart - try a shine chain online! (note to be clear - we recorded this before the lockdown, so the studio time was legal at the time...)
UPDATE! Hi Everyone, We hope that our mambo salsa community is doing well. Please reach out if there's any needs that we can assist with.... We have couple of updates for you. we are currently working on a shine chain. We are almost done and will be posting what we are doing and how you can participate in future shine chains; and we have launched a new design for mambo domingo's website. take a look. here's the url: http://mambodomingo.com/ Stay safe everyone. We miss you all and anxiously looking forward to putting on great socials, dancing our butts off, socializing, etc.
Here's the intermediate shines class demo lead by Athan and Erica. There's no social today. MD is canceled to mitigate the spread of coronavirus in our community, "FLATTEN THE CURVE" and help our healthcare system prepare for CV-19 cases. In the meantime be safe and protect your community. Will see you soon, hopefully in April 2020.
NO MAMBO DOMINGO SOCIAL TODAY MARCH 15TH. STAY SAFE. TAKE CARE OF EVERYONE!
Zaida's back! Here are Zaida, Colin, and their gang. Our next edition on March 15, 2020, will not be happening to address the concerns over Coronavirus (our community safety). We hope to return on April 5, 2020.
Dear Dancers, In support of the City’s (and larger community’s) efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus, we are canceling our March 15 social. We would love to dance, and we believe that panic is unwarranted, but we also realize we have a responsibility to abide by the City’s recommendations, which are important for the larger community that we are a part of. Last Friday, San Francisco implemented social distancing recommendations, including to cancel non-essential lar...ge events (50+ ppl) for a period of two weeks. The main point of this recommendation is to slow the spread, to give healthcare providers more critical time to prepare to handle sick patients. Thank you for understanding! We hope to be back in April. We will update based on City recommendations in effect at that time. Meanwhile, we are sure you can responsibly find ways to keep dancing and stay healthy. As Frankie Martinez recently posted: Stay sharp and continue to practice. It's all temporary and together we will enjoy all the things we miss on the other side. See you soon! Your Mambo Domingo Organizers . More Info City’s 2-week social distancing measure: https://www.sfdph.org//Updated-DPH-Recommendations_COVID-1 Purpose of social distancing, as reported by the Chronicle Aggressive social distancing measures are meant to mitigate or slow down the spread of a virus that’s believed to be circulating in the community but not yet widespread. That buys time for public health officials and health care providers to gather tools to battle the illness: everything from developing vaccines and treatments to coming up with plans for handling large numbers of sick people all at once. Great info from the CDC: http://coronavirus.gov/ Recent post on making adjustments in dance from Frankie Martinez: https://www.facebook.com/abakua.dance.5/posts/10221862414450885 https://www.facebook.com/events/774491199729147/
This is a new series MD added recently. We feature certain dancers each edition. Here are David and Jennifer. David is an incredible dancer. He is a member of Yamulee SF. Jennifer is one of MD volunteer organizers. She started coming to MD during our early days. Jennifer has become quite a wonderful dancer as you will see.
