Jesus knew the Pharisees had heard that he was baptizing and making more disciples than John (though Jesus himself didn’t baptize themhis disciples did). So he left Judea and returned to Galilee. He had to go through Samaria on the way. Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. Soon a Samaritan woman came to d...raw water, and Jesus said to her, Please give me a drink. He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food. The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink? Jesus replied, If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water. Hi Living Water Church! Today's sermon that Pastor Jonathan and I preached today (sermon title: Equipped to do Christ's Work), I mentioned a book that our leadership is reading called: Lost In America: How You and Your Church Can Impact The World Next Door by Tom Clegg and Warren Bird. This book changed my life in 2001. I believe this book is more relevant today than ever before! In it, Clegg and Bird prophesied that if the church does not reposition and realign itself with G...od's Word and call to be missionary IN AMERICA, the Church will loose its Kingdom impact and Gospel mission in the culture and will hide its light due to comfort and fear. We are there in 2020. But through the Spirit of the Living and Loving God, Living Water Church Elk Grove protests and rebels against the cultural norm for the sake of rescuing the lost, seeing the broken healed and the imprisoned delivered and set free!!!! For those who asked about this book today after our service, pick it up and read along with us! We are a church literally on the move and we gladly and joyfully say YES to the mission of Christ! There is a quote rapidly spreading these days that goes like this, "We are all not in the same boat but we are all definitely in the same storm." I get the meaning and premise behind this quote but the problem with it is it offers no hope! It's message fosters despair and discouragement. The true question is, "So what boat are you in during this increasing, turbulent storm?" Who are you trusting in the middle of the storm? The answer is Jesus! At Living Water Church, we bel...ieve that Jesus is our boat, Ark, safety, security, peace, salvation, anchor. Are you drowning right now? You do not have to default to what the world is doing by falling into hopelessness and despair. Reach out your hand to the One hand that can rescue you and save you. He will pull you back into the boat because He loves you so much! When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, It’s a ghost! But Jesus spoke to them at once. Don’t be afraid, he said. Take courage. I am here! Then Peter called to him, Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water. Yes, come, Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. Save me, Lord! he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. You have so little faith, Jesus said. Why did you doubt me? When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped.
