Los Angeles Art Association is pleased to launch our new online program 3 Minute Studio Visit. While many artists are using this time to make art, COVID 19 is curtailing the opportunities for collectors and viewers to view their work and hear directly from the artists. Towards that end, we are launching a new ongoing program that shares studio visit video content with our audience. For our initial outing we are proud to share the work and practice of artist Lorraine Triolo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2SazAqhB54

Karen Fitch McLean's Auction pick of the day: "Floyd Frazier's works such as the wonderfully titled "Very Still Life" are verbally and visually droll, perhaps especially when depicting dark subjects, little being darker than one's demise. Paintings by Mr. Frazier exhibit the light touch of a good, serious cartoonist and a fresh-out-of-the gate painter racing through art history, racing against time and through eras to acquire and share knowledge (along with the personal expe...rience). Seeing a work like this, which suggests an artist freshly bitten by the magical art history bug is a lot of fun; especially when the painting brew combines this very sober subject, the serious matter of entertaining the viewer, and an obvious natural wit." Karen Fitch McLean, Art Show Coordinator, City of Beverly Hills Los Angeles Art Association's Annual Benefit Auction live streams tomorrow at noon at https://www.johnmoran.com//la-art-association-annual-benef If you can't watch, you can make an absentee bid before noon tomorrow 8/18
Marlene Picard's Auction pick of the day is Dwora Fried. "My choice is a resounding vote for Dwora Fried's boxes in all their playful and dramatic glory. I fantasize about a small room completely festooned with an end to end floor to ceiling installation of these boxes. Better than anything you can binge watch on any streamer.' - Marlene Picard To see Dwora's piece and Los Angeles Art Association's Annual Benefit Auction, please visit: https://www.johnmoran.com//la-art-association-annual-benef
Cheryl Perkey's Auction pick of the day "My LAAA 2020 Auction pick of the day is Brad Howe's Event and Notations. I love its playful juxtaposition of color, contrasting patterns and balanced form. The two disparately colored panels of this sculpture stand together in balance, supporting one another like two friends with very different personalities. Holes scattered across the panels create even more visual interest, with an organized pattern on the red panel and a chaotic pattern on the white panel." - Cheryl Perkey, Art Advisor To view and bid on Los Angeles Art Association's Annual Benefit Auction, Please visit: https://www.johnmoran.com//la-art-association-annual-benef
Chris Davies Auction pick of the day is Shepard Fairey. "I love the graphic arts-styled works that often permeates Shepard Fairey's art. His usage and blending of symbols with propaganda has become his signature. You can always recognize a Shepard Fairey, especially with the inclusion of Andre the Giant. Love this peace - a must have for your collection." Chris Davies Publisher, Fabrik Founder and Director, Fabrik Projects and ArtVirtualy.com... Juri Koll Pick of the Day is Barbara Nathanson's work "Tick Tock Waterfalls". It uses surface texture as markers for the motion down the painting. Her work consistently uses lucious color and plasticity of paint. Juri Koll, Director, Venice Institute of Contemporary Art See Barbara's piece and the Los Angeles Art Assocation's Benefit Auction here: https://www.johnmoran.com//la-art-association-annual-benef
Shana Nys Dambrot's Auction pick of the day is JT Burke's Paradise No. 3. "I love this piece from Burke, evolving his brilliantly innovative jewelry-based photocollage into a neatly magical and realistic scenario in which the objects can fully be their glorious, botanical selves, catching the sunlight in the sparkling landscape. It's like a fairy tale!" Shana Nys Dambrot, Arts Editor, LA Weekly I Flaunt | Art & Cake | Artillery To view and bid on Burke's piece and Los Angeles Art Association's Benefit Auction visit: https://www.johnmoran.com//la-art-association-annual-benef
