Review from a customer in 2011- "I figured out that my driver side catalytic converter was bad. I being a genius and wanting to save a buck decided to order and install the new cat myself. Well, long story short my "direct fit" converter ($384 from Oreilly's) was shipped to my house and I tried to install it. The installation didn't work out so well and I had a "now what?" moment. So I looked up and drove to la mesa muffler and asked the owner to check it out. How about $40 b...ucks along with the old converter to install the cat? Deal. He ended up having to do some cutting and welding to get it properly installed. Now I have no rattles and was very happy with the service I received. I must say I was very leery since it looked as though this guy had no business. I also thought that might be for the better for me since he needs some business. Well it turned out to be a good deal for me!"

Review of a customer in 2009 "Appalled by the dealership that made me wait over the 5 hours in order to get quoted $600 for a front brake pad and rotor replacement (parts and labor), I took my car to La Mesa Mufflers & Brakes. The gentlemen mechanics there took 10 minutes to turn around a $250 quote for everything. Less than one hour later, the work was done and the car was back in my hands. From the moment that I walked in, I could tell that my car would be well-taken care o...f (I know, the grammar sucks). The lobby had car-part sculptures, model cars everywhere, car-part cut-outs, and display parts hanging from the ceiling. The man in charge was in the middle of bidding in an online auction for a used car that he wanted to restore. Several project cars were laying about the parking area. There was no doubt that these guys (who have over 30 years of experience each) are in the car-fixing business because they love cars! Take your car nowhere else!" See more
