EBB continued... tacked up nice n straight first shot and ready to weld it out, so in goes the precision fit mandrel, and the 8mm pinch bolts are snugged down so it stays perfectly round. if this step is skipped your bb shell will distort and things will never be right as far as tightening, servicing or adjusting the unit goes... #ebb #kelly #bike #onespeed @kellybikeco #welding #machine #madeintheusa #love #steel

the quintessential part of any great disc brake one speed is the eccentric bb shell itself. where strength, a precise round fit and adequate tightening are the difference of being a great EBB that is easy to setup, adjust and forget it, versus a funky setup that is noisy, difficult to setup, adjust, keep tight and hard to readjust if/when you change gearing. i build all my shells in house out of 4130 chromoly tubing. i bore the center sections to alleviate unnecessary weight ...and machine them to a .002 slip fit. i then braze on a 4130 pinch sleeve that uses a 8mm stainless bolt. the frame is then tacked in the jig with the actual aluminum eccentric and completely welded out of the jig with a thick and precise steel mandrel so it doesn’t distort or ovalize the bb shell itself... this is why one if my ebb builds cost a couple hundred more than a standard bb shell frame, because they are a lot more labor, especially if its done right. #kelly #bike @kellybikeco #ebb #onespeed #laboroflove See more
