As we close Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we would like to remind our communities that there are resources available and there is hope! We understand these are difficult times, and there are many barriers to leaving an abusive relationship. We are here to partner with survivors and reduce barriers that prevent reaching out for help. Our services are free, inclusive, comprehensive, and offered in English and Spanish.... If you are in an abusive relationship and are looking for help, please contact us at (562) 806-5400.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan! Thanks to their generous support, we were able to organize a giveaway of 456 backpacks for our early childhood education families. Each backpack was filled with school supplies and health resource handouts. Our clients truly benefited from this kindhearted donation. Thank you for helping us bring smiles to our communities in these challenging times!

Domestic violence doesn't only affect adults. Research shows that all young children who experience domestic violence are affected as well. Young children from birth to age 5 who witness or experience domestic violence may also experience generalized anxiety, aggression or withdrawal, separation anxiety, loss of acquired skills, and other negative developments. This tragic reality highlights why it's so important that we work work to end violence in our communities.... If you have experienced domestic violence and are in need of support, please visit our website at hsala.org to learn more about our programs or call us at (562) 806-5400.

On this #WorldFoodDay, we would like to highlight the work of our Meals on Wheels and congregate meals teams! They have been working tirelessly in recent months, providing 20,000 meals per week to homebound seniors across L.A. County who are at risk of food insecurity. Thanks to their efforts, seniors in our communities are able to remain safe at home without worrying about their meals.

On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. Domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of sex, gender, age, culture, or status. That's why we proudly offer services that are inclusive and culturally-sensitive. For more information on our programs for domestic violence survivors, please visit our website at hsala.org or call us at (562) 806-5400.
