The Skyway building next to the Museum is going to be torn down and replaced by a new building and hangars. our friends at @redwoodcityfire are taking advantage of that and getting some good training in. What a great idea! #redwoodcityfire

The Hiller Aviation Museum is opening again! The Museum is now OPEN WEEKENDS ONLY. 10 AM - 5 PM San Carlos , CA After seven months of closure the Hiller Aviation Museum is open. In accordance with the recent county level change, and operating within the county and state health guidelines, the museum is open.... A number of measures have been put in place to ensure visitor, employee, and volunteer safety. Complete details are available on the museum’s website, and below is a brief overview. Following County guidelines, face masks are required for everyone age 3 and up. Museum capacity will be limited to ensure social distancing. High-touch exhibits have been revamped or temporarily grounded (taken offline). All areas are being cleaned with increased regularity. Hand-sanitizer stations are available throughout the museum. Yes, the museum will be different, but you will still be able to see and learn about the collection of 50+ unique and experimental aircraft, many with ties to Bay Area aviation history, as well as watch aircraft take off and land at San Carlos Airport and enjoy some time outdoors as well. Our gift shop is also reopening and is a great place to find those unique birthday gifts or activities (kites, drones, aircraft models, and more!) to entertain your family. In addition, Hiller at Home will continue to be available to you as a learning resource, with videos, aircraft stories, and try-at-home STEM activities. We also plan to continue our Virtual Invention Lab and Hiller Hangar Talks, both via Zoom, at this time. So whether you want to join us on the ground or in the cloud, we look forward to continuing to serve you with aviation and science learning opportunities. More info: https://www.hiller.org/covid19/ Please be well and keep looking up!

Happy Autumnal Equinox! At 6:30 AM Pacific Time on Tuesday, fall arrives in the Bay Area and throughout the northern hemisphere as Earth arrives once more at the autumnal equinox. Tomorrow morning our Sun will rise directly in the east, and tomorrow evening will set nearly directly in the west. Day and night will be of approximately equal length, hence the term equinox. From now through the solstice on December 21 the days will grow steadily shorter, and the Sun will retreat ever farther towards the south, as the change in seasons sweeps across the land.
