Congratulations to Ms. Flores! Her father petitioned the entire family in 1996. At the time of the final interview, Ms. Flores was left out because she aged out or became an adult daughter. Without guidance, her father submitted another petition for her independently as an adult child, but the priority date also changed to an 18 year wait. When we met the family, we screened for priority date retention. This allows the father to request the immigration office to recaptur...e the initial family petition date to her adult child. Today not only was Ms. Flores able to recapture the 1996 priority date, but she was given the protection under the law known as 245 i, allowing her to submit her request for permanent residence inside the U.S. Here we are today in Fresno!
