Our daughter is continuing the multigenerational quest to serve the psychiatric needs of our communities. She received her first invitation to interview for a doctorial program and Im so happy and proud of her. I have shed tears of joy and had spontaneous episodes of sporadic dancing all day. Having two health care providers as parents who are also self employed meant that her parents were both often unavailable. Instead of being bitter she understood and embraced the ...importance of our work and has decided to carry it on. She will be an amazing Doctor and the world will be lucky to have her. The events of last week have encouraged me to help people understand how to avoid becoming the victim of misinformation and hurting innocent people. Ms. Samantha Bempong/Honowitz accused one of our employee’s of being racist scum and harassing three children "without consequences" and then she posted an inappropriate racial post towards the The Hoskins Boys | Facebook children on my LPG page. She impersonated a reporter and lied about her identity to the owner of LPG as d...id another man. She then called upon people to attack our business. Mrs. Hoskins the mother did the same demanding I fire an employee and called for her supporters to post negative reviews against our business. Ms. Hoskins threatened the owner saying she was going to send a little birdy to come see her tomorrow. Patricia Murphy sent several threatening texts and said that thousands of people had seen these posts. Ty Robinson was particularly attacking and full of false accusations and assumptions. People threatened to picket the business. Brittnay Odom accused the employee of being a bigot and an idiot. Jheqela King accused the employee publicly of making racist remarks. I could go on and on but you get the idea. 1) Think before you act. 2) Don’t jump to conclusions. 3) Don’t spread information that you have not personally verified to be accurate. 4) Ask yourself what other possible explanations are there for what happened? Is there another reason someone might have done this? How do you know that this happened? What are the possible consequences if I accuse someone wrongly? (for example am I harassing a person who may not have done this or a small family owned business who is already struggling during a pandemic? Am I damaging the employee's and the business reputation without proof? Am I spreading hate speech, discriminatory images, and sowing division? We should learn from history and especially black history that this sort of behavior is dangerous and horrible. These people sent the lynching mob out without a fair hearing or giving the business appropriate time to investigate and respond. The business spent the week investigating these allegations on top of our already very busy schedules. The employee’s facebook page was in fact hacked by someone in Panoma, CA. while the employee was at work. The post was not from her IP address nor one she had ever used before. The owner had to call the police, file multiple facebook reports for the racially inappropriate posts and harassment. The hacking has been verified by facebook. All of the above people owe more than an apology to the employee they attacked and wrongly accused as well as an apology to the business and the owner. I'm sure that she thought she might lose her job and was stressed beyond belief all week. I call upon the above people to make your apology publicly as its the right thing to do.
