Our next Friday Free Market is scheduled for next Friday (10/9) from 2-4 at 2751 Napa Valley Corporate Drive.

In order to combat food insecurity here in Napa, @OxbowPublicMarket has partnered with @HandsAcrossTheValley to raise money for the Napa Food Bank and Meals on Wheels. On Sunday, August 23, the inaugural (and virtual!) Napa Valley Champions Cook-Off will take place, pitting two Napa Valley chefs who have won nationally televised cooking contests against each other in a friendly challenge to determine the ultimate champ! https://oxbowpublicmarket.com//napa-valley-champions-cook-

What have the Farm Bureau's Young Farmers & Ranchers been up to? The Napa County Young Farmers & Ranchers came back on the scene last fall, reviving the annual ...Barn Dance in late November. Efforts to plan the fundraising event started in spring of 2019 and by the time of the dance, YF&R had welcomed back a robust group of young professionals. In January we met to elect board members and recognize the leaders that were integral over the last year in recruiting new members and organizing a successful fundraiser. Congrats to the YF&R Executive Commttee: o Chair: Julian Clymer (Vineyard Representative with Sunridge Nurseries) o Vice Chair: Kelli Cybulski (Viticulturist & Project Manager, Atlas Vineyard Management) o Secretary: August D’Amato (Assistant Viticulturist, Barbour Vineyards) o Treasurer: Ashton Leutner (Viticulturist, Continuum Estate) Although we have had to forgo monthly meetings in these unprecedented times, YF&R has done their best to stay involved in the community to lend a helping hand CANV Starting in March, YF&R members began volunteering with Community Action of Napa Valley (CANV) to deliver groceries for the Senior Brown Bag program at Rohlffs Manor. Alongside CANV Program Director, Shirley King, approximately 60 boxes are distributed twice per month Grow Your Own Garden Kits YF&R developed Grow Your Own Garden kits to get involved with Ag in the Classroom initiatives even while students are out of school. With generous donations from TerraVesco-Feed The Soil and Long Meadow Ranch Winery & Farmstead we were able to assemble and distribute hundreds of kits to local residents: o 500 kits distributed by CANV to families in Calistoga and east Napa County o 150 kits to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley-American Canyon Clubhouse o 70 kits and 140 collard starters to River School distributed by Ms. Louann Talbert (Garden-to-Table Elective and Program Coordinator) Kits included: o Two kinds of seeds and collard/swiss chard starters donated by Long Meadow Ranch thanks to Jess Arnsteen (Culinary Farm Manager) and Noel Lopreore (Production Coordinator) o 40oz bag of vermicompost from TerraVesco thank you Rod Carlsen (Regional Sales Manager) o ‘How-to’ guide to utilize household items for your personal garden Mission Farm Since the end of April, YF&R has met every Saturday morning with the team at St. John's Lutheran Mission Farm to assist with garden operations. Mission Farm is a 2.5 acre vegetable parcel that farms for the CANV food bank; last year they donated over 15,000 lbs of produce! So far we have planted zucchini, squash, peppers, and onions, done copious rounds of weeding, harvested onions, and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the other volunteers! Thanks to Ron & Lois Johnson for letting us get involved! Join us! Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers are active agriculturists like you between the ages of 18 and 35 and involved in production, banking, business, and many other areas of the industry. Young Farmers and Ranchers develop leadership skills while volunteering time as active, vital members of the Napa County Farm Bureau. As a member of Young Farmers and Ranchers your voice will join those of your peers to speak out for agriculture. As you develop your skills and knowledge, your efforts will help Farm Bureau to effectively represent all farmers and ranchers. For more information, please email [email protected]. Good news! Thanks to the generosity of people across our community, we raised over $20,000 for Community Action of Napa Valley! As promised, I’m shaving my Coro...navirus beard. Check it out below, and you can still donate to help them provide meals to seniors and families in need in our community. https://app.etapestry.com//CommunityActionofN/donate.html

@HALL Wines , one of the world’s most notable Cabernet Sauvignon producers, has announced plans to host a Virtual Cabernet Cookoff: Home Edition, on Saturday, May 30th. HALL had plans to host its annual Cabernet Cookoff on Saturday, April 24, but the event was cancelled due to the shelter in place orders stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic. This event supports our CANV Food Bank as well as many other non-profits in the Valley.
