It is 87% humidity here in Sayulita and 90 degrees pretty much every day. The Savoy goes with me to the beach and then back to my dry, air conditioned hotel room numerous times a day. These massive fluctuations in temperature and humidity would cause normal wooden guitars to swell and shift, but the Savoy handles them with ease and generally requires very little tuning after doing so! I needed a little R&R, so I grabbed this pretty Savoy, gathered all of the 3oz bottles of sanitizer I could fit in my bag, and booked a ticket to Mexico. No trouble getting this parlor size guitar onto the plane - it had an overhead bin all to itself and probably enjoyed a more comfortable flight than I did. The past few weeks were a quick and brutal introduction to our fire season in California: over 1.5 million acres have already burned, including Big Basin, one of our most beloved state parks. Fortunately, most of the ancient redwoods survived! Some of these trees are 1000 - 1800 years old and have built up fire resistant bark over the course of many, many years. As the smoke settles here in San Francisco, we're reminded why we build guitars without cutting down trees. Old gr...owth trees sequester CO2 from the atmosphere and are able to survive forest fires that younger trees are not. Sometimes I catch my self trying to be serious. . Serious making songs, eating, teaching, stretching... Everything is all serious all the time Sometimes that can even spoil the enjoyable experiences i could actually have! Sound familiar to you? . In music that shows up too and it always reflects life in my eyes. Many times I find my self freezing because I want a clear line or verse, better voice or something that others HAVE TO understand to recognize as a valid idea or flow.
