The Department of Defense is seeking Congress’ approval to reallocate more than $800,000,000 of approved Army funding for other purposes. Almost half of this m...oney would be diverted from needed National Guard equipment at a time when we are asking the National Guard to be increasingly ready for missions at home and abroad. Another $200+ million would be diverted from the Army Reserve. And, $200 million would be taken away from approved funding for other Army tactical and support vehicles. In short, the Army, the National Guard and the Army Reserve must have these requirements fully funded in order to fulfill their missions. Congress saw it that way when they approved the funding and the requirement hasn’t changed. Don’t take money away from the Army at this critical time.
